

So Alma sceptically takes home this dashing humanoid geisha: Tom, played with elegant, fluent German by Dan Stevens. She is persuaded by her boss to be a guinea-pig for a new hi-tech scheme: she will road-test a male “companion” robot, programmed to be infinitely considerate and obliging, which will attend to all her emotional and indeed physical needs. The difference between Im Your Woman and the films it most resembles is that stuff like Klute, The Parallax View, The Conversation, and Night Moves are about men trying to find The Answer, whereas Im Your Woman is about a woman who knows The Answer and wants it to leave her alone. In this 1970s set crime drama, a woman is forced to go on the run after her husband betrays his partners, sending her and her baby on a dangerous journey. Maisel, but her new feature, I’m Your Woman. Im Your Woman set in the 70s epitomizes the 1940s and 1950s classic era of cinema. Slow is just one characteristic of film noir crime dramas.

Eggert plays Alma, an archaeologist with an unhappy and frustrating personal life. Rachel Brosnahan has accomplished quite a bit over the years including scoring two Emmy nominations and one win for her work on The Marvelous Mrs. I partially concur however, I wonder if the person realized Im Your Woman was written and directed by Julie Hart and co-writer Jordan Horowitz to be intentionally slow. We are in a world of the near-future (and the city of Berlin itself is certainly very plausible as its location). But I was disappointed with a film whose crises and dilemmas seem laborious and essentially predictable it does not fully work as sci-fi or satire or comedy. Directed by Maria Schrader, this was a crowd-pleasing favourite at the Berlin film festival earlier this year and its star, Maren Eggert, won the festival’s new gender-neutral best leading performance prize.
